AI for Business Growth: Scale Smarter Without Losing the Human Touch

AI can help you improve business operations, but it works best when your systems are solid and you choose the right tasks to support. Learn how to start using AI thoughtfully while keeping human connection where it matters.

AI for business growth can sound like a promise of instant efficiency, but adding AI to your business will not automatically solve operational problems. If your processes are unclear, new tools may only make it harder to see what needs attention.

In a conversation with Candy Messer, David Pourquery shares how to approach AI as a tool for strengthening a business. You’ll learn why strong systems matter, how to identify practical opportunities, and why some customer interactions still need a human touch.

Build a strong foundation for AI for business growth

David describes AI as an accelerant. When your business already has sound systems and processes, AI can help you move faster. Without that foundation, you may struggle to get useful results.

Before choosing a tool, look at how work currently gets done. Where are you repeating the same steps? Which tasks take time but follow a clear process? Are your instructions detailed enough for someone else to follow?

Those questions can help you decide where AI might be useful. You do not have to transform your entire business at once. Start with one process and assess whether AI helps you improve it.

Use AI to find gaps and opportunities

One practical starting point is to give an AI tool context about your business, such as your SOPs or financial models, and ask it to identify gaps or areas for improvement. David suggests asking where you may be leaving money on the table or what could be optimized.

You can also use a voice feature to explain what you need in a conversational way. If you are unsure how to phrase a request, ask the AI to help you create a better prompt.

Treat its response as a starting point. David recommends comparing answers from multiple AI tools when you want to check the quality of an answer. Your business knowledge and judgment are still important when deciding what to use.

Keep people involved when customer stakes are high

AI may be a reasonable fit for some routine questions. But the right approach depends on your business, the customer’s needs, and the stakes of the interaction. A customer buying a low-cost product may have different expectations from someone making a higher-value purchase or working through a complex problem.

David put it this way:

“The higher the dollar amount, the higher the stakes, the more I think humans are still needed for sure.”

Measure marketing by results

AI can help you create and manage marketing tasks, but activity alone does not show whether your marketing is working. David recommends comparing what you spend on an effort with the return it brings.

The right audience and a clear offer matter, too. A large number of likes or views may not mean your message is reaching potential customers who need what you offer. Specific messaging can help you connect with the business owners you want to serve.

A resource for Google Ads

David Pourquery is the founder of Groas, a company that uses AI to manage Google Ads. He invited business owners who are running Google Ads and want to manage them more effectively to visit groas.com.
